Saudi Arabia announced Monday that a private island named “Sanam” will be the top prize for the winner of the Saudi Camel Club’s Rai al-Nadhar competition, with contestants competing in team-based play for prizes totaling 5 million Saudi riyals ($1.33 million).

Contestants are vying for the Rai Alnadhar platform prize, an interactive digital platform run by the Saudi Camel Club as a parallel event to the club’s competitions, held as part of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival.

Participants register on the platform to receive free daily points, with each point counting as a vote that can be used the same day. They can also increase their points through electronic purchases and payments.

The competition runs through successive rounds, for example, 32 participants face off in head-to-head matchups, followed by progressive eliminations through to the final.

The initiative came as part of efforts to preserve national heritage and reinforce the cultural legacy linked to camels, presenting it in a contemporary way while safeguarding its authenticity and ensuring its sustainability.

The platform aims to turn heritage into a shared experience in which the public takes part, rather than merely following from afar. The platform is sponsored by the Saudi Camel Club.

Private jet last year

In the previous edition, the Rai Alnadhar platform prize was a private jet won by the holder of the “Monqiyat Al-Jazirah” title.

This year’s edition offers a private island for the winning owner, along with prizes for the top 10 finishers on their team.

A total of 50 contestants are set to compete in this edition as team captains, with each team made up of players vying for prizes totaling 5 million Saudi riyals.

Top scorer to win private island

Saudi Camel Club Chairman Fahd bin Hathleen said the announcement reaffirms the club’s approach to developing the competition ecosystem and linking cultural heritage with modern tools that help broaden community engagement, shifting interest in camels from passive following to meaningful participation.

According to bin Hathleen, the prize will be awarded to the camel owner who scores the highest total points in the competition, based on clear criteria calculated through active participation in the festival and performance alongside their team in the Sanam game.

The winner will also earn the honor of greeting the event patron and receive the Shaddad award, in addition to the private island.

The platform’s distinctive prizes reflect the Saudi Camel Club’s esteem for heritage and its perceived value, underscoring the role of competition in widening community participation and strengthening the cultural presence of camels locally and regionally, supporting the Kingdom’s positioning as a leading reference for heritage in the region.
