A week ago, during the 78th Cannes Film Festival, the Saudi Film Commission revealed that they are building a state-of-the-art production facility.
This new film studio complex is called Jax Film Studios and is set to open in the capital city of Riyadh.
The studio complex will cover over 7,000 square meters (775347.3 feet) with two large soundstages, each measuring about 1,500 square meters, and a virtual production stage powered by Sony’s latest LED screen technology.
The studio complex will also include additional facilities such as a private cinema screening room, reception and meeting spaces, production preparation areas, dining zones, and a dedicated VIP lounge.
Jax Film Studios is the Saudi Film Commission’s long-term investment in infrastructure, talent development, and global partnerships, aiming to establish Riyadh and Saudi Arabia as a whole as a premier regional and global film production hub, empowering Saudi local talent while attracting international filmmakers.
The CEO of the Saudi Film Commission, Abdullah Al-Qahtani, said in a statement that Jax Film Studios represents a cornerstone of their strategy to develop a world-class film infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
This studio complex marks a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia’s ambition to diversify its economy and develop a competitive film and media industry aligned with its 2030 vision.
The studio complex is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2025.
