Marvel Studios’ newly released trailer for "Spider-Man Brand New Day" has quickly drawn criticism online, as viewers began to point out inconsistencies and editing choices that many say undermine its credibility.

Although the trailer initially built up excitement around the return of Peter Parker, a character closely associated with actor Tom Holland, the reaction shifted as fans started to pick apart details and compare them with earlier Spider-Man films.

Multiple trailer versions raise concerns about consistency

One of the main points of criticism centers on the circulation of different trailer versions across platforms, particularly those shared by Sony and related accounts. Viewers noticed that these versions did not fully match, which led to confusion and fueled claims that the promotional material had been altered.

As discussions spread across social media, some users argued that such differences made it harder to trust what the film would actually deliver once released.

Beyond the issue of multiple versions, fans also flagged specific visual differences within the footage. In one instance, Peter Parker’s web-shooters appeared in certain scenes but were missing in others, even though the shots seemed otherwise similar.

Past examples fuel ‘misleading trailer’ claims

Criticism of the new trailer has also been shaped by comparisons with earlier films in the franchise. Viewers recalled how Spider-Man: Homecoming featured a trailer scene showing Spider-Man flying alongside Iron Man, which was widely promoted but did not appear in the final cut of the movie.

Costume changes and scene edits add to skepticism

Fans further pointed to differences between trailer and final versions in previous entries, such as Spider-Man: Far From Home, particularly regarding costume choices. Some users suggested that similar changes could happen again, based on what they observed in the latest footage.

At the same time, attention has turned to subtle scene edits, where characters in action sequences appear to be reacting to something not visible on screen, leading to speculation that elements may have been digitally removed or altered.

Use of CGI to hide characters remains a recurring issue

Another frequently mentioned criticism involves the use of CGI, or computer-generated imagery, to conceal characters in trailers. This technique, which allows studios to digitally remove or hide figures to avoid spoilers, has been used in previous Marvel promotions and has drawn mixed reactions.

In the new trailer, viewers highlighted scenes where attacking characters seemed to look in different directions, suggesting that the original target may have been edited out or changed during post-production.

As debates continue, many viewers have concluded that the true extent of any differences between the trailer and the finished film will only become clear after its theatrical release on July 31, 2026.
