Strauss Philharmonie will bring its "Strauss Concert Show" to Ankara and Istanbul in October, combining works by Johann Strauss with compositions by several major figures in the European classical repertoire.
Conducted by Vinicius Kattah, the production wilsl feature 15 musicians and a soprano, bringing Vienna's musical culture onto the stage through a program built around orchestral works, vocal performances and theatrical presentation.
The repertoire will center on Johann Strauss, widely known as the "Waltz King," with works including "The Blue Danube" and the "Radetzky March."
The program will also bring in compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Emmerich Kalman, Julius Ernst Wilhelm Fucik and Franz Lehar, broadening the concert beyond Strauss while remaining rooted in the Central European classical tradition.
Rather than following a conventional concert format alone, the "Strauss Concert Show" will combine classical music with a more theatrical stage experience.
Orchestra members will appear in traditional concert costumes, while the soprano will perform popular works from the Viennese repertoire. A presenter will also accompany the program with humorous accounts and anecdotes related to music history.
Organized by Musicarium and Y Kultur Sanat, the concert will first take place at the CSO ADA Ziraat Bankasi Main Hall in Ankara on Oct. 12, followed by a performance at the Ataturk Cultural Center's Turk Telekom Opera Hall in Istanbul on Oct. 13.
