The legendary film "The Godfather," honored with an Academy Award, will be screened in Istanbul with Nino Rota’s timeless soundtrack performed live by orchestra on Sept. 14 at Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre.
Organized by Piu Entertainment, the screening will feature the 65-member Istanbul Film Orchestra, which will accompany the film with Italian composer Nino Rota’s iconic score.
First released in 1972 by Paramount Pictures, "The Godfather" tells the story of the Corleone family between 1945 and 1955, exploring their struggles for dominance in the New York mafia world. The film stars Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone and Al Pacino as his youngest son Michael, alongside James Caan, John Cazale, Robert Duvall, and Diane Keaton.
Rota, known not only for his film music but also for operas and symphonic works, collaborated with directors such as Federico Fellini throughout his career. He later won an Academy Award in 1975 for his compositions in "The Godfather Part II".
Following the Istanbul performance, the production will travel to Ankara on Sept. 16 at ATO Congresium and to Izmir on Sept. 18 at Kulturpark Open-Air Theatre.
Tickets for all three shows are available on Biletinial, Biletix, Bubilet and Passo.
