Orion Pictures will release Kim Jee-woon’s psychological thriller "The Hole" in theaters on June 25, 2027, giving the film starring Theo James and Hoyeon a spot on the summer calendar, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film comes from Amazon MGM Studios' specialty label and also stars Yeom Hye-ran and Christian Slater.
"The Hole" follows Owen, played by James, an American professor living in South Korea. After his wife dies in a car accident, his Korean mother-in-law cares for him and begins to uncover secrets about his marriage and past. The story unfolds in Seoul and Berkeley, California.
Kim directs from a script by Christopher Chen, adapting Hye-young Pyun’s best-selling 2016 Korean-language novel of the same name.
The film will open the same day as Warner Bros.' untitled "Ocean's Eleven" prequel, which Bradley Cooper is writing and directing. Cooper will star alongside Margot Robbie, Wagner Moura and Monica Barbaro.
James leads the Netflix series "The Gentlemen," created by Guy Ritchie, which is set to return for a third season. His film credits include "The Monkey" and the "Divergent" franchise.
Hoyeon broke out in Netflix’s "Squid Game" and has appeared in the film "Hope" and the series "Disclaimer."
Kim's previous films include "The Age of Shadows," "Illang: The Wolf Brigade" and the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led "The Last Stand."
