The eighth Turkic World Women and Fashion Festival has brought together prominent designers and cultural artisans in Kazakhstan's Aktau, a city recognized as the 2025 Turkic Capital of Culture. Held on June 28–29 at the Aktau Amphitheatre, the festival was jointly organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), the Mangistau Governorship, and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

With participants from 13 countries and regions, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Hungary, Mongolia, and North Macedonia, the event stood out for blending ethnic heritage with contemporary creativity. Designers presented stylized collections featuring traditional crafts and motifs from across the Turkic world, interpreted through a modern lens.

A stage for silk, felt and miniatures

The festival featured not only a fashion show but also exhibitions, workshops, and masterclasses showcasing a range of traditional art forms—from silk and felt to miniature painting and handwoven textiles. A standout element was the fashion show held at the Aktau Amphitheatre, where designers combined centuries-old motifs with updated silhouettes and modern lines.

Representing Türkiye, designer Gozde Isbilir and the Izmir Olgunlasma Institute showcased a collection that wove traditional Turkish aesthetics into elegant, contemporary styles. Their garments reflected the continuity of cultural craftsmanship in a fashion-forward format.

Highlighting cultural identity through artistry

The event attracted high-level guests, including TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, Aktau Mayor Abilkair Baipakov, Türkiye’s Consul General in Aktau Sabri Alptekin, and Uzbekistan’s Consul General Jamoliddinhoca Abdukarimov.

In his speech, Raev underscored the cultural significance of the event by stating, “Woman is the bearer of civilization in the Turkic world. Every motif adorned with handcraft is not only an aesthetic element, but also a reflection of our identity, our history, and our spirit.”

Cultural symbols on display

Adding a monumental touch to the festivities, a 12-meter-long felt carpet made with traditional techniques was also unveiled.

The piece, which embodies the rich textile heritage of the region, will remain on display throughout the year in Aktau for public viewing.
