Rapper Travis Scott is expected to appear as a surprise guest at Kanye West's upcoming Istanbul concert, according to the event's organizer.
Erdem Karahan, founder of ILS Vision, said the two artists, who have performed together in Los Angeles before, are expected to perform their joint track "Father" at the May 30 show.
Also known by his artist name "Ye," West is set to perform in Istanbul on May 30, organizers say, marking the opening date of his European tour.
The concert is set to take place at Ataturk Olympic Stadium, with organizers targeting a capacity of up to 120,000, surpassing the current world record for a single concert of 98,000.
West’s daughter is also expected to perform at the event.
The Istanbul show is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors from around the world, with attendees traveling from Russia, Kazakhstan, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, and Poland, among other countries.
Tourism related to the concert is expected to generate nearly $100 million in additional revenue for Türkiye.
Karahan shared that 75,000 tickets have already been sold through official channels and reservations. With tourists already in Istanbul, total attendance could go beyond 115,000.
Karahan explained that the Istanbul venue is much larger than most European stadiums. "European stadium capacities average 40,000 to 50,000, while Ataturk Olympic Stadium's capacity of over 100,000 offers the artist a unique scale. We expect the event to generate between $50 million and $100 million in ancillary revenue from international visitors' accommodation, transportation, and food and beverage spending."
This production is set to be one of the biggest ever in Türkiye, with at least 150 million Turkish liras spent on the stage, lighting, and technical equipment.
A globe-shaped stage will be brought to Istanbul and put together in 10 days, using about 40 truckloads of gear and hundreds of workers. The concert will feature a 360-degree sound system and laser and drone shows.
Turkish artists Sena Sener, Motive, and Lvbel C5 are among the supporting acts.
Before and after the main concert, a festival area outside the stadium, with space for 30,000 people, will host additional performances, including sets by West and his orchestra. Alcohol will not be served at the venue.
At the same time, several of West’s other European concerts have been canceled.
The Wireless Festival in London was canceled after the U.K. government refused to allow Weenter into the country. Marseille’s mayor, Benoit Payan, said West was not welcome to perform there on June 11.
There is also growing pressure to cancel West’s upcoming concert in Italy.
West, who is 47, is returning to Istanbul for the first time in 11 years. The concert will be broadcast live on TV, with 16 cameras and steadicam systems for production.
