Turkish culture was put on display in Abuja as the Yunus Emre Institute and Turkish Airlines drew strong visitor interest at Nigeria’s annual Diplomatic Cultural Festival.
Organized by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital, Abuja, this year’s festival was held under the theme, “Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Global Cultures in Nigeria.”
The event brought together diplomatic missions, cultural organizations and international institutions from several countries to highlight cultural heritage and strengthen public engagement between different communities.
At the Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) stand, visitors were introduced to different aspects of Turkish culture and art.
One of the main points of interest was Turkish calligraphy, a traditional form of decorative handwriting. Visitors had the chance to see the art form up close, while their names were written in traditional Turkish calligraphic style and given to them as gifts.
The stand also featured traditional Turkish clothing, which visitors tried on for photographs.
Visual materials promoting Türkiye’s historical and touristic sites were also presented, giving guests a broader look at the country’s cultural and travel appeal.
Turkish desserts were also served during the festival, introducing participants to well-known flavors from Turkish cuisine. According to the information shared from the event, visitors responded positively to the food offerings.
Turkish Airlines, known internationally as THY from its Turkish name, also took part in the festival with a separate stand. The airline presented information on Türkiye’s tourism potential, flight network and services.
By bringing together different cultures in one setting, the festival aimed to support friendship, mutual understanding and cultural cooperation between countries.
The stands opened by the Yunus Emre Institute and Turkish Airlines remained among the areas that attracted steady visitor interest throughout the day.
