Türkiye’s Embassy in Cairo, in cooperation with the Embassy of the State of Palestine and the Turkish humanitarian organization IHH, continued its intensive activities in support of Gaza and efforts to strengthen cultural ties between Türkiye, Egypt and Palestine by organizing on Nov. 5 a solidarity event titled “Long Live Gaza” .
The gathering, hosted by Turkish Ambassador Salih Mutlu Sen at his residence, brought together around 300 guests representing 170 Palestinian families living in Egypt.
The event included the distribution of financial and food aid and was attended by prominent Egyptian and Palestinian figures from the media, arts, and civil society.
In his remarks, Ambassador Sen reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to continuing its humanitarian and political efforts to rebuild Gaza and consolidate the ceasefire.
He highlighted Türkiye’s active role in the Sharm el-Sheikh peace plan, implemented in cooperation with Egypt, the United States, and Qatar.
The ambassador also praised Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s efforts to host the peace summit, describing the current stage as “a decisive turning point on the path toward stability and reconstruction in Gaza.”
He added that the motto of the current stage should be “Long Live Gaza,” as an expression of the region’s shared humanitarian stance and unity.
In a touching humanitarian gesture, the Turkish ambassador offered his condolences over the passing of Essam Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, son of the late world-renowned Qur’an reciter Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad.
He visited the bereaved family at the Police Mosque in Cairo and took part in the condolence gathering.
During the same event, Ambassador Sen also highlighted Egypt’s recent achievements, praising the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy described as “Egypt’s modern pyramid.”
He affirmed that Türkiye welcomes Egypt’s strong return to the global cultural stage and reiterated the continuation of Turkish-Egyptian cooperation in the fields of culture, arts, industry, and technology.
As part of its cultural outreach, the Embassy of Türkiye in Cairo also extended support to Gazan painter Feyza Yusuf El Raddie, who reflects Gaza’s pain through her art.
Ambassador Sen received El Raddie and her triplets at his residence, commending her resilience and artistic expression. He invited her to display 15 of her paintings at the “Long Live Gaza” event and pledged to help introduce her to Egyptian art organizations and galleries.
The ambassador emphasized that the embassy aims to promote her work internationally to convey Gaza’s suffering through art and to provide educational and moral support to her and her family.
The program also featured a moving Quran recitation by Sheikh Yasser Abdul Basit, son of the late world-renowned Quran reciter Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, in memory of the martyrs of Gaza.
It is worth noting that the ambassador maintains a warm and respectful relationship with Sheikh Abdul Basit’s family.
The Ambassador Sen, on Tuesday offered his condolences over the death of Issam, the son of the late Egyptian Quran reciter Sheikh Abdel Basset Abdel Samad.
During his visit, he stated that Sheikh Abdul Basit’s family “is part of my own family,” emphasizing the profound spiritual and cultural bonds that unite the Turkish and Egyptian peoples through the shared heritage of the Quran, art, and faith.
He extended his condolences to Yasser and Tarek, the brothers of Issam, during the funeral service held at the Police Mosque in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
He also expressed his deep sorrow through his official accounts, praising Sheikh Abdul Basit’s enduring legacy, saying that he “left an everlasting impact on the hearts of Turkish youth in the 1970s with a voice that carried the love of God and purified souls.”
