Turkish pop singer Deniz Seki was rushed to the hospital and taken into surgery after a fall at her home in Istanbul left her with a fractured hip and spinal injuries, according to details from the incident.
The accident happened around 3:30 a.m., when Seki stepped onto the balcony of her home with wet feet and lost her balance, falling hard to the ground.
The fall was reported to authorities by Cemal Gunbas, a colleague of the singer, prompting emergency medical teams to be dispatched to her address. Seki was then transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Initial medical examinations at the hospital determined that Seki had suffered a fracture to her hip bone as well as damage to her spine. Following the completion of further tests, she was urgently moved into the operating room.
As of the latest update, Seki's surgery remains ongoing. Once the operation is complete, she is expected to require a period of complete immobility and bed rest in order to recover.
