Significant move to promote cinema attendance, Türkiye's Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that every Wednesday until Dec. 31 will be designated as "Cinema Day." During this period, all films at participating cinemas will be available for a flat rate of ₺120 ($2.88).
This initiative aims to make cinema more accessible to the public and encourage higher attendance rates. Minister Ersoy highlighted that the campaign is part of broader efforts to support the Turkish film industry and foster a stronger cultural connection through cinema.
The ₺120 ticket price applies exclusively to participating cinemas. While the list of participating theaters is not yet fully disclosed, it is expected that major cinema chains and independent theaters across the country will join the campaign. Cinema-goers are encouraged to check with local theaters for specific details on participation and showtimes.
Minister Ersoy also revealed that the government's support for the Turkish film industry has significantly increased. In 2005, approximately ₺16 million was allocated to 204 projects. By 2024, this amount had risen to nearly ₺382 million for 408 projects. For 2025, 362 projects have already been approved, with an expected total support of ₺470 million. This reflects a 77% increase in project-based support compared to 2005.
