Türkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in cooperation with the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), hosted a reception titled "Türkiye Invites You" at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes, drawing international producers, directors, festival executives and industry representatives.
The event aimed to present Türkiye's production infrastructure and co-production potential to the global film industry.
Officials described the country's technical capacity, studio facilities and post-production resources as capable of meeting international standards, noting that foreign productions now arrive with smaller crews than in previous years due to the availability of local equipment and personnel.
Birol Guven, director general of cinema at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, outlined Türkiye's positioning as a filming destination, highlighting its geographic diversity, trained crews, and production capacity.
He noted that co-production activity has grown in recent years and that Türkiye is increasingly being considered a base for international projects.
Guven also referenced a series of short promotional films, described as micro-dramas, produced to showcase Türkiye's filming locations, which he said are available on the "Go Türkiye" YouTube channel.
He called Türkiye the first and only country to use this format for location promotion.
Actor Engin Altan Duzyatan, speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA) at the event, said Türkiye has the second-largest television series industry in the world after the United States, and noted that the country's four seasons, historical sites, and diverse landscapes offer practical advantages for production.
He said he expects Türkiye to be part of major international co-productions in the coming years.
Actor Ozge Gurel noted that each of Türkiye's cities offers a distinct visual and cultural identity for filmmakers, with options ranging from coastal scenery to mountainous regions.
She cited the Black Sea region and Kars, particularly in winter, as locations she finds well-suited for cinematic work.
A separate Türkiye stand was set up at the Cannes Film Market, staffed by Turkish sales agencies and industry representatives.
The stand facilitated discussions on the international distribution of Turkish films and provided foreign industry professionals with information on Türkiye's co-production opportunities, incentive programs, filming procedures and technical infrastructure.
Promotional materials distributed at the stand included the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Film Production Incentives Guide, along with information on Turkish films in production and post-production, production and post-production companies, sales agencies and festivals held in Türkiye.
