Türkiye’s national stand at the 79th Cannes Film Festival and Marché du Film completed its program with a series of meetings aimed at raising the international profile of Turkish cinema, opening up new co-production opportunities and promoting Türkiye as a filming and investment hub for global productions.
Organized by the Bosphorus Culture & Arts Foundation with the support of the Cinema Directorate General under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Türkiye Stand represented the country’s film and television industry throughout the festival, which took place from May 12 to 23, 2026.
The Cannes Film Festival, one of the world’s leading cinema gatherings, ended with the Palme d’Or, the festival’s top prize, going to Cristian Mungiu’s film Fjord. Alongside the festival, the Marché du Film, Cannes’ international film market, brought together producers, sales agencies, distributors, fund representatives and festival programers.
Throughout the festival, the Türkiye Stand highlighted the country’s production capacity, creative talent and openness to international partnerships. Industry professionals from several countries visited the stand for talks on co-productions, filming opportunities in Türkiye, international distribution and support mechanisms offered by the Turkish film industry.
The stand also served as a meeting point for representatives from Türkiye’s cinema and television sectors, allowing them to connect with global decision-makers during one of the busiest periods in the international film calendar.
During one of the festival’s busiest days, the Türkiye Stand hosted several well-known Turkish actors, including Engin Altan Duzyatan, Engin Akyurek, Ozan Akbaba, Caner Cindoruk and Ozge Gurel.
The actors met with international industry representatives and contributed to Türkiye’s visibility in film and television, particularly at a time when Turkish productions continue to draw attention in overseas markets.
Cinema Directorate General head Birol Guven and Bosphorus Culture & Arts Foundation President Ogun Sanlier also held meetings at the Türkiye Stand with producers, actors and international sector representatives.
Commenting on the stand’s presence in Cannes, Guven said Türkiye was calling on global producers, directors and investors through the message “Türkiye Invites.”
As part of its Cannes program, the Türkiye Stand also hosted a happy hour event that drew strong interest from the international film community.
Around 200 cinema professionals from different countries attended the gathering, including producers, sales agents, distributors, festival representatives and creative industry figures. The event focused on new collaborations, partnership opportunities and possible future projects.
By the end of the festival and film market, the Türkiye Stand had completed its Cannes program with a focus on industry outreach, international cooperation and Türkiye’s growing role as a destination for film and television production.
