Türkiye’s international digital platform, tabii, launched its new season with the theme “With tabii, you’re at home, what you watch is worthwhile” at a high-profile event held at Rixos Tersane Istanbul. The event was attended by Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran and TRT General Manager Mehmet Zahid Sobaci, highlighting the platform’s significance in Türkiye’s cultural and digital landscape.

Bringing local culture to global stage

Burhanettin Duran emphasized that tabii is not merely a digital platform, but a vehicle for presenting Türkiye’s cultural heritage to a global audience. He stated, “We are experiencing a unique opportunity to bring the local and the universal together,” noting that tabii reflects the synthesis of Türkiye’s diverse cultural identity.

Duran further highlighted the platform’s role in conveying universal human experiences, such as resilience, injustice, and family values, and underscored the importance of producing content that resonates with global audiences while remaining rooted in Türkiye’s own cultural framework. He praised tabii’s contribution to resisting cultural hegemony and producing content that embraces humanity on a global scale.

TRT General Manager Mehmet Zahid Sobaci underscored the challenges posed by global digital content trends that often prioritize commercial appeal over cultural and ethical value. He remarked, “tabii goes beyond being a platform,” emphasizing its commitment to family-centered, values-based storytelling that avoids explicit content and upholds societal norms.

Sobaci further noted that the platform’s approach aligns with Türkiye’s designation of 2025 as the Year of the Family, reflecting a broader responsibility to safeguard children and youth from harmful content and ideologies.
