Nearly 700 students in Adana and Tarsus met American musicians during a series of events organized by the U.S. Consulate in Adana, the USAFE Band and Incirlik Air Base's 39th Air Base Wing between Sept. 22 and 26.
During the first two days of the visit, the band met students at events in Adana and Tarsus, giving them an opportunity to speak directly with American musicians, learn about music careers and get to know American culture through music.
The performance also took on a local character when the musicians played "Adana Kopru Basi," a well-known Turkish song, drawing interest from students and teachers.
The USAFE Band later performed for the military community at Incirlik Air Base on Sept. 24 and 25.
The program also included a reception attended by honorary consuls, American Citizen Liaison Volunteers, Crisis Response Partners and other guests to mark the United States' 250-year history through music and friendship.
A "Founders Museum" exhibition setting out important milestones in the founding of the United States was also featured during the event.
The visit wrapped up with a private reception in Adana hosted by U.S. Consul Eric Mehler.
Mehler highlighted the role played by American Citizen Liaison Volunteers and Crisis Response Partners in supporting U.S. citizens and helping respond to emergencies.
"Our American Citizen Liaison Volunteers and Crisis Response Partners play a critical role in helping us support American citizens, respond to emergencies and ensure the safety of Americans. We thank them for their dedication and cooperation. Tonight, we celebrated the friendship between the United States and Türkiye. It was also an opportunity to recognize the important work we carry out together," he said.
