The former One Direction singer posted the screenshot to his Instagram account Sunday with the caption "This is for any confused individuals.. check the date."
Malik has been criticized for telling the crowd at a show in Chile that he sees a lot of political noise in the press and doesn't think any life is insignificant. The concert took place Oct. 2 at Santiago's Movistar Arena, part of his Konnakol Tour.
Some people characterized Malik as unwilling to take a clear position on Palestine, and the criticism followed comparisons to comments Ed Sheeran made during the fallout over Macklemore's Loop Tour appearances in September.
The original tweet dates to July 2014, during Israel's offensive in Gaza. It was retweeted 220,000 times within days, reaching his 13 million followers, and angered some Israeli fans, a few of whom made death threats against Malik, then 21. He did not delete it.
The singer has also been linked to Palestinian causes more recently. In April, as he recovered in a hospital, his cousin Sasha Malik urged people to donate to The Palestine Project on his behalf instead of sending flowers.
Some fans said the Instagram post settled the question. Others said it didn't address his comments in Chile.
