A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the Buldan district of Denizli in western Türkiye on Monday morning, sending tremors across nearby provinces and prompting emergency authorities to mobilize precautionary response teams.
According to data released by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), Türkiye’s national agency responsible for coordinating disaster response and risk management, the earthquake occurred at 9:21 a.m. local time. The tremor originated in Buldan, a district in Denizli province, and was recorded at a depth of 7 kilometers.
Although the epicenter was located in Denizli, residents reported feeling the shaking across several surrounding provinces. Social media posts from citizens indicated that the tremor was also perceived in Izmir, Mugla, and Isparta.
Following the quake, regional authorities quickly activated response mechanisms and sent teams into the field to assess the situation.
In a statement shared through social media, Denizli Governor Yavuz Selim Kosger confirmed that multiple public institutions had been deployed immediately after the tremor.
Kosger stated that response teams were operating across the affected area and that no negative incidents had been detected so far.
Addressing residents impacted by the earthquake, the governor added:
“Buldan district experienced a magnitude 5.1 earthquake at 9:21 today. AFAD, the Gendarmerie, the Police, UMKE and all relevant institutions are in the field carrying out their duties. So far, no adverse situation has been identified. I extend my wishes for a speedy recovery to all our citizens affected by the earthquake. May Allah protect our country and our nation from all kinds of disasters.”
