A 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck Bursa province at 11:47 a.m. local time, with authorities reporting no damage or casualties following the tremor.
According to information from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) website, the earthquake's epicenter was located in the Gemlik district at a depth of 9.82 kilometers (6.1 miles).
The tremor was also felt in surrounding provinces, though no adverse conditions have been reported from any affected areas.
Bursa Governorate released an official statement confirming the earthquake details and the current situation.
"An earthquake of 3.9 magnitude occurred in our province at 11:47, with its epicenter in Gemlik, and no adverse situation has been detected following the earthquake. This is respectfully announced to the public," the governorate's statement read.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation following the seismic activity.
At 12:57 p.m., a second earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit the Gemlik district. According to AFAD, the earthquake's epicenter was also in Gemlik, at a depth of 10.14 kilometers. The tremor was again felt in neighboring provinces.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that there have been no negative consequences from the 4.2 magnitude earthquake.
