Aleppo University, northern Syria, has witnessed the launch of Arabic language courses for non-native speakers as part of a joint initiative between Syria’s Aleppo University and Türkiye’s Ibn Khaldun University.
In a post published on Tuesday evening on its official Facebook page, Aleppo University announced the arrival of the first group of Turkish university students who traveled to the city to study Classical Arabic.
The Turkish Consulate in Aleppo also confirmed the start of the courses in a statement released on the social media platform X, expressing pride in welcoming the first Turkish students and academic staff participating in the program.
“We are honored and proud to meet the first of our students and faculty members from Turkish universities who have come to study Arabic, and we wish them every success,” the statement read.
The initiative is seen as part of a broader framework to foster cultural and educational exchange between the two countries.
The Syrian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has signed a cooperation agreement with Türkiye's Council of Higher Education, aimed at strengthening partnership and integration in the field of higher education between the two countries.
The signing of this agreement marks a significant step that reflects both sides' commitment to advancing academic and research relations in a manner that serves the interests of students and educational institutions in Syria and Türkiye alike.
