Antalya has once again turned into a vibrant open-air culinary hub with the opening of the 5th International FoodFest Antalya Gastronomy Festival under the theme “Every Table Tells a Different Story.”
The festival brings together local producers and international chefs to showcase the city’s rich culinary heritage and geographically indicated products on a global stage.
Organized by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, the festival opened at Karaalioglu Park with a ceremony attended by Antalya Governor Hulusi Sahin, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Acting Mayor Busra Ozdemir, elected officials, representatives of civil society organizations, and prominent figures from the gastronomy sector.
The event drew strong public interest.
In his remarks, Governor Hulusi Sahin emphasized the cultural depth of Turkish cuisine, noting that traditional tables reflect values such as hospitality, abundance, and sustainability.
He highlighted that practices aligned with today’s concept of sustainability have long existed in Anatolian culinary traditions, including minimizing waste and fully utilizing food resources.
The festival features participation from award-winning chefs from Türkiye and abroad, alongside producers showcasing regional and geographically indicated products.
Throughout the event, visitors experience live cooking demonstrations, tastings, workshops, and panel discussions.
As part of the program, a panel titled “Gastronomy, Cities, and Branding” was held under the moderation of culinary historian Chef Vedat Basaran.
Industry representatives discussed the role of gastronomy in tourism development, preservation of local culinary traditions, and the contribution of food culture to city branding.
The three-day festival will continue with a series of culinary events, workshops, and discussions aimed at strengthening Antalya’s position as a global gastronomy hub.
