Azerbaijan has emerged as the country with the highest number of applicants for the Türkiye Foreign Student Admission Exam (TR-YOS), which is used by international candidates seeking admission to Turkish higher education institutions.
The exam, organized by OSYM since 2022, was held simultaneously in Türkiye and 26 countries abroad, reflecting growing international demand for Turkish universities.
In Azerbaijan, the exam was held in the capital, Baku, as well as in Ganja and Nakhchivan.
Deputy President of the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (OSYM), Cengiz Ceylan, observed the examination process in Baku and provided remarks regarding international participation.
He stated that TR-YOS has been administered by OSYM since 2022 and continues to attract significant interest.
Ceylan noted that Azerbaijan consistently ranks first in terms of applications. “We receive the highest number of applications from Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan is our closest neighboring country. Even during the period when we conducted the exam only within Türkiye, Azerbaijan remained among the countries with the highest number of candidates after Türkiye. It continues to maintain its leading position,” he said.
He further emphasized the strong interest of Azerbaijani students in pursuing higher education in Türkiye, adding that Türkiye has increasingly become an international education hub. According to Ceylan, over 70,000 foreign students enroll in Turkish universities each year.
