FBI Director Kash Patel and country singer Alexis Wilkins announced their engagement Sunday, after more than three years together.
Wilkins posted a black-and-white photo of herself standing with Patel, holding up her hand to show off her ring.
The caption read, "Went and got the law involved," followed by heart and diamond-ring emojis. Patel quickly reposted the announcement with heart and engagement-ring emojis of his own.
The couple met at an event in Nashville in 2022 and began dating in early 2023. Wilkins stood beside Patel when he was sworn in as FBI director in Feb. 2025.
Patel grew up in Garden City, Long Island. Wilkins was born in Boston and raised primarily in Arkansas. She graduated from Belmont University in Nashville in 2020 with a business administration degree. She released her debut EP, "Grit," in 2023, and is also a conservative political commentator.
The relationship has drawn scrutiny during Patel's tenure. Patel has faced criticism for using government aircraft on trips with no apparent law enforcement purpose, including an FBI jet flight to State College, Pennsylvania, for a pro wrestling event where Wilkins sang the national anthem.
Wilkins has also faced online rumors. She sued podcaster Kyle Seraphin for defamation, alleging he falsely claimed she was a foreign agent, and sought $5 million in damages. Patel has publicly defended her, calling the attacks "disgustingly baseless."
