Ismail Cinar, 67, left the stress of Istanbul behind to move to a village and take up beekeeping, quickly adapting to rural life thanks to his bees.
Cinar left his home village of Kula in Kirklareli during his youth to live with his older sister in Istanbul, where he worked various jobs in the metropolis for many years.
After retiring from roughly 35 years as a driver, Cinar decided to return to his native village in search of a quieter life.
Settling in his village in 2022, Cinar began producing honey with four beehives as a way to adjust to the routines of rural life and make good use of his time.
Over time, Cinar increased the number of hives to 30 and now leads a peaceful, calm life in his village while tending to his bees.
Cinar told Anadolu Agency that he was happy to live a life away from the stress of Istanbul in the village. Describing the village as very beautiful, Cinar said he wants to increase the number of hives further.
Explaining that he had grown tired after years in the metropolis, Cinar said, "I find peace spending time with the bees. It's actually indescribable, a distinct feeling; you don't even notice how time passes. And when you get honey, you find a different kind of peace as well."
Ismail Cinar noted that he makes his living by producing organic honey in the village. Saying that he spends a very enjoyable time with his bees, Cinar emphasized that he regrets not having come to the village sooner.
Cinar invited all citizens who have the opportunity to migrate to their villages.
