Türkiye will host the Zero Waste Forum in Istanbul on June 5-7, bringing together government officials, ministers, mayors, business leaders, academics and civil society representatives from around the world to discuss climate action, energy efficiency and sustainable resource management.

Held under the theme "The Road to Antalya: Zero Waste as Climate Action," the forum is being organized by the Zero Waste Foundation and aims to strengthen international cooperation on sustainability and environmental policies.

Energy ministers to discuss efficiency, clean energy transition

As part of the event, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar will host a high-level session for energy and natural resources ministers under the theme "Energy Efficiency and Resource Management for a Sustainable Future."

The session is set to focus on a range of issues, including energy efficiency, renewable energy investments, circular economy practices, integrating waste into energy processes, resource efficiency and energy security.

Bayraktar noted that the forum would bring together ministerial-level participants, international decision-makers and industry representatives to advance practical solutions for improving energy efficiency and accelerating the transition to clean energy.

"At the Zero Waste Forum, ministerial-level participants, international decision-makers and sector representatives will come together. Through the high-level session on ‘Energy Efficiency and Resource Management for a Sustainable Future,’ we will jointly shape concrete solutions to increase energy efficiency and support the transition to clean energy," Bayraktar said.

Forum aims to outline future roadmap

Samed Agirbas, president of the Zero Waste Foundation and High-Level Climate Champion for COP31, described energy efficiency and zero waste as two inseparable issues and said the gathering would help define future priorities in both fields.

Agirbas noted that the forum, held under the patronage and leadership of Emine Erdogan, is expected to produce a roadmap for future action while reinforcing Istanbul’s role in global discussions on zero waste and energy efficiency.

“A roadmap will emerge from the Zero Waste Forum that we are organizing as the Zero Waste Foundation on June 5-7 under the patronage and leadership of Mrs. Emine Erdogan. We want to make Istanbul a global center for zero waste and energy efficiency,” he said.
