Türkiye will officially begin its national HPV vaccination program at the end of 2025, according to Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu. The long-anticipated initiative aims to provide broad immunisation coverage against the human papillomavirus (HPV), a major cause of cervical cancer.
Speaking during a live television broadcast, Minister Memisoglu stated, “We are taking another major step under our ‘Preventive Health is Our Priority’ strategy. We plan to initiate the HPV vaccination program by the end of 2025.”
He stressed the importance of ongoing efforts and scientific diligence: “We are continuing our preparations with great care. Our goal is to make the HPV vaccine available for all children aged 13 and older, and for every citizen above the age of 15.”
HPV is a common virus with certain strains known to significantly increase the risk of cervical cancer. Experts see vaccination as a critical public health measure, especially for adolescents before potential exposure to the virus.
Memisoglu emphasized: “The HPV vaccine protects against the two strains most associated with cervical cancer. This program is a vital investment in the health of our future generations.”
