A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian symbolic damages of €1 (about $1) over a 2016 armed robbery in which she was held at gunpoint and had jewelry worth millions of euros stolen from her Paris hotel residence.
Her stylist, Simone Harouche, who was present during the robbery, was also awarded one euro in damages.
In a statement provided to People magazine, the two said the ruling "is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition." They thanked the French justice system and those who supported them through the case, adding that they hoped to continue recovering from the trauma.
The robbery occurred in October 2016 while Kardashian was staying at the Hotel de Pourtales during Paris Fashion Week. A group of men, some posing as police officers, entered the building in the early hours of the morning. Kardashian was held at gunpoint, bound with plastic ties and tape and placed in a bathroom while the assailants searched the residence.
The group took jewelry worth millions of euros, including an engagement ring her then-husband, rapper Kanye West, gave her. Most of the stolen items were never recovered.
French authorities arrested 17 suspects during the investigation, and 10 people stood trial in Paris in 2025. Kardashian traveled to the French capital to testify, telling the court she had feared she would be sexually assaulted and killed during the robbery.
Seven men and one woman were convicted in May 2025 of offenses linked to the robbery, including Aomar Ait Khedache, identified by investigators as the organizer. The defendants became known in French media as "les papys braqueurs," or the "grandpa robbers," as several were in their 60s and 70s at the time of the trial.
Tuesday's civil ruling came nearly a decade after the robbery and set the damages owed to Kardashian and others affected by the crime.
