A Kyrgyz patient has regained his health following a complex pancreatic cancer operation in Türkiye, a case that underscores the growing role of cross-border medical referrals and online physician outreach in accessing advanced surgical care.
The 63-year-old patient, Adahan Mamisof, traveled to Kahramanmaras after his family identified specialist medical content online and contacted Turkish surgeon Bahtiyar Muhammedoglu.
Following comprehensive evaluations at a private healthcare facility, doctors determined that surgical intervention was appropriate.
The patient underwent a Whipple procedure, a high-risk and technically demanding operation that lasted approximately five hours. The surgery involved the removal of the head of the pancreas, duodenum, lower bile duct, gallbladder, and part of the stomach.
Medical teams reported that advanced imaging and endoscopic techniques were used during the procedure, contributing to a successful outcome.
Doctors stated that the patient’s postoperative condition has continued to improve, with recovery progressing in a stable and positive direction.
Following treatment, Mamisof was prepared for discharge as his condition significantly improved. His family noted that multiple attempts to obtain effective treatment in Kyrgyzstan had been unsuccessful before they sought care in Türkiye.
