The Turkish State Meteorological Service has updated its warning map, issuing yellow-level weather alerts for 22 provinces as heavy rainfall and strong winds are forecast to affect wide areas of the country.
According to the latest assessments, the northern, inland and western regions will experience partly to mostly cloudy conditions, with rain and showers expected in several provinces. Thunderstorms are forecast locally, particularly across the Aegean, Western Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.
Rainfall is expected to be locally heavy, especially in parts of the Aegean and Western Mediterranean, including Izmir, Aydin, Mugla, Manisa, Canakkale, Balikesir, Burdur and Antalya. Authorities warned that intense rainfall could result in localized flooding, water accumulation and disruptions to transportation.
Strong winds blowing mainly from southern directions are forecast to reach 50 to 90 kilometers per hour, with short-term storm conditions expected in the Aegean, Western Mediterranean and southern Central Anatolia.
In addition, strong winds are expected across parts of the Black Sea region, including Samsun, Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun, Sinop and Kastamonu, increasing the risk of tree falls, roof damage and maritime disruptions.
The yellow-level warning covers 22 provinces, including Afyonkarahisar, Aydın, Izmir, Manisa, Kutahya, Usak, Denizli, Mugla, Antalya, Burdur, Balikesir, Canakkale, Bolu, Karabuk, Duzce and several Black Sea provinces highlighted on the updated meteorological map.
