Miss Türkiye 2024 Idil Bilgen has arrived in India to represent Türkiye at the Miss World competition, which will be held across multiple cities from May 7 to 31. Bilgen, 24, is a graduate of Koc University School of Medicine.

She shared her excitement on social media shortly after landing in India, thanking both the Turkish and German consuls general for their warm hospitality in the lead-up to the pageant.

Bilgen bullied over beauty standards

Idil Bilgen earned the national title on Sept. 11, 2024, securing the crown as Türkiye's most beautiful woman. Since then, however, she has faced online scrutiny, with critics alleging her appearance has changed since the competition. Some social media users speculated she may have undergone cosmetic procedures or heavily edited her photographs.

In response, Idil Bilgen publicly denied undergoing plastic surgery and has continued to share new photos, projecting confidence in her natural appearance.

Idil Bilgen's visit to India coincides with rising regional tensions. On Tuesday, India announced it had launched “Operation Sindoor,” targeting nine “terrorist infrastructure” sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The strikes followed an April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, that killed 26 people.
