Firefighters in northern Türkiye captured a monkey that had been seen wandering through residential neighborhoods after residents called authorities to report the animal.
The monkey was spotted in the Ilkadim district of Samsun.
Residents in the Kiran and Catalarmut neighborhoods contacted officials after seeing it on the streets, prompting a response from the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department.
Firefighters learned the animal had entered a building in Kiran and caught it there. The monkey was taken into protective custody.
Authorities did not immediately say what kind of monkey it was, or how it came to be loose. No injuries were reported.

An investigation into the incident has been opened.
