The Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) and Istanbul Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) have issued urgent weather warnings, marking the end of the “Indian Summer” period and a return to seasonal temperatures.
Most regions of the country will experience partly to mostly cloudy skies, with showers and thunderstorms predicted in Thrace, eastern Central Anatolia, Canakkale, Tokat, and the western districts of Istanbul.
Rainfall areas are expected to see a drop of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius (35.6 degrees to 39.2 degrees Fahrenheit), while other regions remain largely unchanged. Winds will generally blow from the south, but in Marmara, strong north winds (Poyraz) will intensify starting Wednesday, bringing noticeable cooling.
Authorities urge citizens to exercise caution during showers and strong winds, dress for cooler weather, and remain alert to hazards such as flash floods, lightning, and slippery roads.
Drivers should use headlights, reduce speed, and maintain vigilance in foggy or rainy conditions.
