The Star Legend, the Windstar Cruises vessel featured in the 1997 action film "Speed 2: Cruise Control," arrived in Bodrum on Monday carrying 240 passengers, most of them American, and 194 crew members.
The ship sailed in from Santorini, Greece, and is scheduled to depart for Kusadasi in the evening.
The Bahamas-flagged vessel, measuring 159 meters (522 feet), became globally recognizable through its central role in the Sandra Bullock, Jason Patric, and Willem Dafoe film.
Originally launched in 1992 as Seabourn Legend, the ship underwent an extensive renovation and lengthening at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy between 2018 and 2021, increasing its passenger capacity and updating its interiors.
Today, the Star Legend operates in the luxury boutique cruise segment, offering wide suites and personalized service.
It's called Bodrum Cruise Port, which opened its 2026 season on April 3, adding a cinematic dimension to what officials describe as a strong year for the port.
Authorities expect 119 cruise ships to call at Bodrum Cruise Port throughout the 2026 season, with approximately 140,000 passengers projected to visit the district.
The arrival reflects a broader trend in Türkiye's cruise tourism market. Upper-segment and boutique vessels are accounting for an increasing share of port calls at Bodrum, a pattern officials say strengthens the district's international profile and contributes to the local economy through higher per-visitor spending.
The Star Legend's itinerary continues along the Aegean coast, with Kusadasi marking its next stop after Bodrum.
