Swimming has been banned at several Black Sea beaches in Sakarya and Duzce due to unfavorable weather and sea conditions that could put visitors at risk.

District governor's offices introduced the restrictions along the coastlines of Karasu, Kocaali and Kaynarca in Sakarya, as well as Akcakoca in neighboring Duzce.

Red flags raised across Sakarya beaches

Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality lifeguard teams raised red flags along affected beaches to signal that entering the water is prohibited.

The teams also warned residents and visitors to stay out of the sea and follow the restrictions until conditions improve.

Security stepped up in Akcakoca

In Akcakoca, a popular Black Sea coastal district in Duzce, the district governor's office said adverse weather and sea conditions could create serious risks at beaches and along the shoreline.

Following the ban, security measures were stepped up across beaches and coastal areas to prevent people from entering the water.
