A large number of jellyfish have washed up along the coastal stretch between the Kusadasi district of Aydin and the Selcuk district of Izmir, drawing attention from residents and visitors in the area.
In recent days, thousands of nearly transparent jellyfish have been observed covering sections of the shoreline, particularly along beaches in the Kusadasi–Selcuk coastal corridor. The unusual accumulation has reportedly altered the appearance of several beach areas, with dense clusters of jellyfish visible on the sand.
Local observers stated that the phenomenon was most noticeable during morning hours, when wave and wind conditions appeared to carry large quantities of jellyfish toward the shore.
Specialists note that such occurrences can periodically be seen in marine environments, but emphasize that the current scale is noteworthy.
They suggest that environmental factors such as variations in sea temperature, changes in ocean currents, and broader climate-related influences may contribute to such events.
Authorities have issued warnings to the public, stressing that jellyfish should not be touched under any circumstances.
Experts caution that even dead jellyfish can retain active stinging cells, which may cause skin irritation, burns, or allergic reactions upon contact.
