Turkish actress Melisa Senolsun said Wednesday she was shocked to learn that a hair sample had tested positive in a drug investigation targeting celebrities, insisting she has never used narcotics or stimulants and asking authorities to repeat the analysis.
Senolsun, a well-known television and film actress, was among the public figures detained in the probe. Biological samples were taken from her, reportedly this week that her hair sample showed a positive finding.
In a statement on social media, Senolsun said her blood and urine tests had come back negative.
"I learned with shock that a positive finding was detected in my hair sample, even though my blood and urine samples were negative," she wrote. "I would like to state once again, clearly, that I do not use any drugs or stimulants."
She said the hair result should be re-evaluated and that she would ask the judicial authorities, through her lawyer, to repeat the examinations.
"I am following the comments being made about me with sadness while the process is still ongoing," she wrote. "I fully believe the truth will emerge as soon as possible."
Blood and urine tests generally detect only recent drug use, while hair analysis can cover a much longer period, which can lead to differing results between the methods.
The actress has not been charged, and prosecutors have not publicly commented on her case.
