Turkish actress Afra Saracoglu was detained at an airport on Monday after returning from a trip abroad, as part of a drug investigation involving a number of well-known figures in Türkiye.
Saracoglu is among 24 people for whom detention orders were issued under instructions from the Bakirkoy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The operation was carried out by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command as part of investigations involving celebrities.
Authorities detained 21 people across two separate investigations, including actors Aras Bulut Iynemli, Melis Sezen and Nilperi Sahinkaya, rapper Seyfullah Sagir, known professionally as Sefo, and former footballer Hasan Sas.
Saracoglu was abroad on a previously planned business trip when reports about the investigation emerged, according to a statement she shared on social media.
She said she had learned while overseas that her name had appeared in reports alongside those of several colleagues and that she intended to return to Türkiye as soon as possible to give a statement to judicial authorities.
"For justice to be served and for the process to proceed in the most appropriate way, I will return to my country as soon as possible and give my statement in full cooperation with our judicial authorities. My conscience is clear, and I fully believe that everything will be clarified," she said.
She was subsequently detained at the airport after returning from abroad.
Born in 1997 in Edremit in Türkiye's Balikesir province, Saracoglu began her acting career in 2016 and went on to gain wider recognition through Turkish television productions.
She became known for her role as Ece in "Fazilet Hanim ve Kizlari" and later starred as Seyran Korhan in "Yali Capkini" between 2022 and 2025.
Her other television work includes "Kardes Cocuklari," "Ogretmen," and "Yesilcam," while she has also appeared in films including "Ikinci Sans," "Kotu Cocuk," "Iyi Oyun" and "Ask Bu Mu?"
Saracoglu has also worked with several major brands and appeared alongside Engin Akyurek in the 2025 Go Türkiye miniseries Istanbul My Love.
