Salda Lake, famously known as “Türkiye’s Maldives” has completed all preparations for the 2026 summer tourism season, with officials expecting visitor numbers to surpass last year’s 450,000.
With temperatures warming later than usual this year, tourism activity at the lake has only recently gained momentum. Local authorities confirmed that all key facilities, including kiosks, accommodation units, and visitor service areas, are fully operational and ready for the seasonal surge.
To manage the expected influx of tourists, authorities have reinforced safety and environmental protection measures across the lake. Teams of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), lifeguard services, and mounted gendarmerie units have been deployed throughout the area.
Officials said the expanded measures are aimed at ensuring both visitor safety and the long-term protection of Salda Lake’s fragile ecosystem, with lifeguards stationed in designated swimming areas and security units monitoring the wider surroundings.
Known for its striking white shores and turquoise waters, Salda Lake is listed among the World Geological Heritage sites and continues to attract international attention due to its geological resemblance to Mars’ Jezero Crater.
The region’s appeal is further strengthened by nearby attractions, including lavender fields, rose gardens and highland landscapes that offer seasonal recreational opportunities.
