The Henley Passport Index has released its highly anticipated 2026 report, ranking the world's most powerful passports based on the freedom of travel they provide to their holders.
Singapore claimed the top spot as the undisputed leader, granting its citizens visa-free access to 192 global destinations.
Following Singapore, Asian nations continued to perform strongly. Japan and South Korea shared the second spot, offering access to 188 destinations.
The third place was dominated by European nations. Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland shared the podium with 186 visa-free destinations.
They were followed closely in fourth place by a large European bloc including Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway, all providing access to 185 countries.
A striking detail in the 2026 ranking was the position of the United States. The U.S. passport ranked 10th with 179 destinations, falling behind Malaysia.
Malaysia secured the 9th spot with 180 destinations. It was trailed by Canada, Iceland, and Lithuania in 8th place (181 destinations), and Australia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, and the UK in 7th place (182 destinations).
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) entered the top 5, sharing the rank with Hungary, Portugal, Slovakia, and Slovenia (184 destinations).
Turkey ranked 46th in the 2026 index. Turkish passport holders can now travel to 113 countries without a prior visa.
