The Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) has issued weather warnings for Oct. 11–12, 2025, forecasting heavy rain and potential snowfall in various regions across Türkiye.
According to the latest forecasts, the northern, central and western parts of Türkiye, including Marmara (excluding Canakkale), the northwest of Central Anatolia, the Western and Central Black Sea and the coastal areas of the Eastern Black Sea, are expected to experience intermittent and locally heavy rain showers, with possible thunderstorms.
Other regions are anticipated to have partly cloudy to clear skies. Temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal averages, with highs ranging from 16 degrees Celsius (60.9 degrees Fahrenheit) to 19 degrees Celsius (48.2 degrees Fahrenheit).
Winds will generally be from the north and northwest, with moderate to occasionally strong gusts.
The MGM has issued yellow code warnings for six provinces: Kastamonu, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Zonguldak, Bartin and Duzce due to the expected heavy rainfall.
Residents are advised to be cautious of potential flash floods, landslides and disruptions to transportation.
According to Professor Dr. Orhan Sen, via his social media account, snow is expected in the high elevations of Central Anatolia and the Eastern Black Sea regions on Saturday evening and Sunday.
Mountains such as Ilgaz, Erciyes and Palandoken are likely to experience snowfall, while Erzurum and Erzincan may see sleet.
In Istanbul, the weather is expected to be mainly cloudy with occasional showers on Saturday afternoon, with temperatures reaching a high of 17 degrees Celsius and a low of 11 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday, the city will experience rather cloudy conditions with a high of 18 degrees Celsius and a low of 13 degrees Celsius.
Winds will be from the northwest at moderate speeds.
