The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced that western parts of Türkiye are expected to experience rainfall over the weekend, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy conditions.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Cengiz Celik, a meteorology forecast expert at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, said that no precipitation is expected nationwide on Saturday. Southern and southwestern regions will be partly cloudy, while other areas will be mostly clear.
Celik stated that a new cool and rainy system moving in from the Central Mediterranean will affect the country on Sunday.
Rainfall is forecast for the southwestern regions and the Marmara Region, while thunderstorms are expected in the Southern Aegean and Western Mediterranean. He added that precipitation could be locally heavy along the coastal areas of Mugla and Antalya.
According to Celik, rainfall is expected across the entire country at the beginning of next week, with sleet possible in higher elevations of Central Anatolia.
Temperatures nationwide are expected to remain around seasonal norms, with values occasionally 1 to 2 degrees above average, he said.
Celik noted that no rainfall is expected on Saturday in Istanbul and Ankara, although brief showers may occur on Sunday. Izmir is forecast to experience partly to mostly cloudy weather over the weekend.
