Yellow flowers have spread across the foothills of the Kackar Mountains in Türkiye's northeastern Rize province, adding vivid color to a landscape shaped by snow-covered peaks, fast-flowing streams and highland pastures.
Located in the Camlihemsin district, Kackar Mountains National Park stands out for its natural scenery and rich plant diversity. Ayder Plateau, one of the best-known highland areas within the park, has drawn in visitors with sweeping views of flower-covered meadows set against the mountain range.
The yellow flowers have formed postcard-like scenes across the plateau, which also supports numerous endemic plant species—plants that naturally grow only in a specific geographical area.
At this time of year, domestic and international visitors head to the region to take in its mountain scenery, while local farmers move their cattle up to the cooler highland pastures.
The Kackar Mountains rise through Türkiye's eastern Black Sea region and extend toward areas close to Georgia. The range is known for steep slopes, dense forests and heavy rainfall, while different sections reach varying elevations.
Kackar Mountains National Park is based around Camlihemsin in Rize, about 17 kilometers from the district center, although its wider natural area reaches toward Artvin and Erzurum provinces.
Visitors travelling by road can reach the national park with private vehicles, while buses also run to Rize. Ayder Plateau offers guesthouses, boutique hotels and bungalows for different budgets, alongside thermal springs.
The park also provides opportunities for camping, picnicking and skiing. Summer is generally considered the more suitable period for camping, as winter conditions in the mountains can become severe.
