A bomb threat forced an AJet passenger plane traveling from Ankara to Sanliurfa to land safely on Monday evening, after a note warning of explosives aboard was discovered, according to Sanliurfa Governor Hasan Sildak.

The incident occurred on the evening of October 5, 2026. AJet flight number 4180 departed Ankara at 19:00 local time bound for Sanliurfa when a note indicating explosive material was aboard the aircraft was found, prompting security units to respond. The plane landed safely at Sanliurfa GAP Airport at 20:05.

136 passengers, 7 crew members aboard

Governor Sildak said the aircraft was carrying 136 passengers and seven crew members. Following the landing, authorities said all necessary measures had been taken to ensure the safe evacuation of passengers and crew, with security measures raised to their highest level.

Once passengers and crew have been evacuated, security units are set to conduct a detailed search of the aircraft for explosive materials.

Governor Sildak said security forces would continue their work and that every precaution had been taken to ensure the safety of all those aboard the plane. The security review of the incident was ongoing as of Monday evening.
