Police and Coast Guard teams were dispatched to a beach in Sinop's Akliman area after reports of objects resembling drone parts, in what appears to be a separate incident from an earlier find nearby in which a swimmer pulled a suspected missile fragment from the Black Sea.
Teams were sent to the scene after reports that objects resembling unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) parts had been found on Akliman beach.
The parts found on the beach showed visible electronic components and wiring.
Teams secured the area around the debris and began an examination.
Whether the objects belong to a drone has not yet been confirmed, and the exact nature of the parts is expected to become clear following a technical examination.
In a separate incident, a man swimming off Sinop's northern coast noticed a suspicious object in the water and pulled it out onto the beach.
The object's appearance resembled a rocket or missile fragment.
Other residents also noticed the object.
Authorities have not yet determined whether the object constitutes munitions, military equipment, or a related component. Its exact nature, whether it qualifies as munitions, and how it ended up in the sea are expected to become clear following a technical examination.
Authorities previously recovered a similar munitions fragment from the sea in Sinop's Ayancik district.
According to initial reports, the object pulled from the water near Sinop has been identified as a spent first-stage booster from a Russian Pantsir-S1 (SA-22) surface-to-air missile system, specifically, the propulsion unit of a 57E6 missile.
Weapon discoveries washing ashore have become increasingly frequent in Türkiye since the start of the war in Ukraine.
