Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced that 138,758,202 passengers traveled by air between January and July, noting that this figure has exceeded the combined population of 18 European Union member countries.
In a written statement, Uraloglu evaluated July's airline aircraft, passenger and cargo data from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI).
He said domestic passenger traffic in July stood at 10,478,151 and international passenger traffic at 16,311,398, with a total of 26,797,638 passengers served, including direct transit passengers. Cargo traffic that month reached a total of 527,744 tons.
The minister said that between January and July, domestic passenger traffic across Türkiye's airports stood at 60,481,018 and international passenger traffic at 78,215,195, with a total of 138,758,202 passengers served, including direct transit passengers.
"When passenger traffic served as of the end of July 2026 is compared with the same period of 2025, including direct transit, total passenger traffic rose by 2.6%," he said. Cargo traffic during the seven months reached a total of 3,027,448 tons, Uraloglu added.
Uraloglu said Istanbul Airport served 8,146,411 passengers in July alone. Between January and July, the airport served a total of 48,068,524 passengers, consisting of 10,051,727 on domestic routes and 38,016,797 on international routes.
At Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport, July passenger traffic totaled 4,489,072. Over the seven months, the airport served a total of 28,014,566 passengers.
Uraloglu also noted that aircraft traffic at Istanbul Ataturk Airport totaled 15,309 over the seven months.
Uraloglu said airports in tourist centers served a combined total of 32,189,634 passengers over the seven months, consisting of 11,648,259 on domestic routes and 20,541,375 on international routes.
"Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport served 7,406,646 passengers, Antalya Airport served 19,209,979 passengers, and Mugla Dalaman Airport served 2,739,692 passengers. Mugla Milas-Bodrum Airport served a total of 2,348,806 passengers, while Gazipasa Alanya Airport recorded a total of 484,511 passengers," he said.
