Türkiye's Center for Countering Disinformation under the presidential administration denied claims about the allegedly poor health condition of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, calling them unfounded and directed against the president.
The health condition of President Erdogan is satisfactory, and he continues to fulfill his constitutional powers and duties as head of the Turkish Republic, according to a statement from the Center for Countering Disinformation under the Communications Directorate of the Turkish presidency.
Claims about President Erdogan’s alleged poor health were made on a Turkish YouTube channel.
The Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications Center for Countering Disinformation stated: "Unfounded claims have been made about our esteemed President's health condition on a YouTube channel. The expressions used in the said broadcast contain unfounded claims, target the Presidential office and contain insults."
"Our esteemed President fulfills his constitutional duties as head of Turkish Republic State and continues to serve our nation with tireless dedication," the center stated.
The statement also noted: "Heads of state, politicians and other officials who have met with our President are aware of how knowledgeable he is about the issues, how strong his memory is and how resolute he is in his decisions."
"In contrast, those who disregard journalistic notions and seriousness, show no responsibility and sensitivity, and spread disinformation on social media platforms, only put themselves in a small and ridiculous position," the center said.
