Antalya will host a series of high-level international meetings this year, positioning the southern Turkish city as a center of global diplomacy alongside its role as a major tourism destination.
Antalya is set to host the fifth Antalya Diplomacy Forum in April, the 77th International Astronautical Congress in October, and the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in November.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum will be held from April 17 to 19 under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, bringing together global leaders and diplomatic delegations.
The International Astronautical Congress, scheduled for Oct. 5–9, will convene scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and policymakers from the global space sector.
Türkiye will host COP31 at the Antalya EXPO Fairground from Nov. 9 to 20, with representatives from 196 countries expected to attend.
The conference will focus on climate change, greenhouse gas reduction targets, sustainability and environmental policies.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Sahin said preparations for COP31 are ongoing and that the city is expected to welcome more than 50 heads of state and between 80,000 and 100,000 visitors, a figure he said could exceed 100,000.
He said key decisions shaping the future of the world would be made in Antalya during the summit.
Sahin said Antalya has extensive experience hosting major international events and is preparing to organize COP31 successfully.
He noted that preparations are being coordinated under the leadership of Murat Kurum, with initial planning and assignments already completed.
Sahin said the EXPO area will undergo improvements ahead of COP31 and will later serve as a multifunctional venue for public events in Antalya.
He also said work is underway to improve internal and connecting roads in the Belek-Kadriye area, with the Metropolitan Municipality, the General Directorate of Highways and other institutions involved in the preparations.
Sahin said Antalya has become a global city where the world comes together, adding that the dense schedule of international events in 2026 reflects the city’s growing role in diplomacy, science and environmental policy.
