Aselsan has elevated Türkiye to the top tier of armored platform technology by integrating critical mission systems into the Altay Main Battle Tank (MBT) developed with national capabilities.

Under the Altay Serial Production Project Subsystems Contract signed with BMC, Aselsan is providing critical mission equipment for 251 tanks. The first deliveries of Altay tanks carrying Aselsan systems are scheduled to begin Tuesday.

Altay tanks equipped with Aselsan-developed systems feature high firepower, survivability capability, and advanced protection technologies. Systems developed to suit modern combat conditions enable the Altay to demonstrate superior performance in firing tests, placing it among the best in its class.

The systems integrated into the Altay represent the comprehensive scope of Aselsan's contributions to Türkiye's main battle tank platform, positioning the company among the rare organizations worldwide capable of developing all mission equipment systems in-house for a tank.

Altay tank integrated systems include fire control and command networks

Aselsan has integrated multiple critical systems into the Altay. The VOLKAN-II tank fire control system provides precision targeting capabilities. The remote-controlled weapon system enables engagement of targets at extended ranges with accuracy.

The tank command control information system establishes the tactical network backbone for the Altay platoon and company-level operations. The Internal Communication System ensures seamless crew coordination during combat operations.

The tank laser warning system alerts crew members to laser-based targeting threats in real-time. The tank driver vision System provides the driver with enhanced situational awareness and visibility in all lighting conditions.

Soldiers' Second-Sight Vision Sub-Unit enhances gunner targeting accuracy and extended-range target identification capabilities.

AKKOR APS provides 360-degree tank defense

Aselsan developed the AKKOR active protection system (APS) exclusively, providing the Altay with 360-degree defense that elevates survivability capability to the highest level.

Equipped with radar technology, the AKKOR detects threats instantaneously, raising the Altay to a protection tier possessed by only select armies worldwide.

The advanced radar-based system continuously scans the tank's perimeter, providing automated threat detection and response capabilities.

This protection layer represents a significant achievement in modern tank survivability technology.

Combat field recognition, close-range surveillance and training

The Battlefield Identification and Recognition System enables rapid friend-or-foe determination in congested combat environments, reducing engagement uncertainty.

The Orumcek (Spider) Close-Range Surveillance System (YAMGOZ) provides high-resolution imagery for crew situation awareness.

The system delivers critical target identification information during tactical operations.

The tank crew training system embedded within the tank provides real-world user interface simulation training capability. The embedded simulator TMES allows personnel to conduct virtual training using actual operator interfaces.

This system enables crew members to conduct pre-operation scenario-based training with downloaded scenarios, ensuring personnel enter combat operations with comprehensive preparation and task readiness.

Periscope systems provide enhanced vision and surveillance

Aselsan engineers developed national periscope systems that serve as the tank's "eyes," providing Altay crew members with wide viewing angles, high-precision detection, and effective surveillance capability.

The developed periscope systems enhance crew situational awareness and target detection accuracy during combat operations.

Competitive positioning in global tank development and modernization

The national capabilities developed in these systems have positioned Aselsan among the rare companies worldwide capable of developing all mission equipment for a tank in-house.

Through this comprehensive integration capability, Aselsan has achieved competitive positioning with global defense leaders in both new tank production and existing tank modernization programs.

The ability to develop complete subsystem packages with national technology enables Aselsan to compete globally in armored platform development and modernization markets.

The Altay platform, integrated with Aselsan systems, demonstrates that Türkiye has achieved technological maturity in main battle tank design and systems integration.
