The entrances and exits of the Avcilar toll booths on the O-3 European Motorway have been shut down in both directions for six days due to ongoing construction to implement a free-flow tolling system.
The project, overseen by Türkiye’s General Directorate of Highways, began at 11:00 p.m. with crews initiating demolition of the existing concrete toll islands. The new system will allow vehicles to pass through without stopping, aiming to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
Officials said the work is being carried out around the clock and is scheduled to be completed within six days.
During the closure, drivers are being redirected to designated alternative routes to minimize disruption and avoid delays.
Once completed, the Free-Flow Tolling System is expected to provide a faster and more seamless travel experience in the region.
