Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahceli delivered a wide-ranging speech at his party's weekly group meeting, touching upon the protests in Iran, the policies of Donald Trump, and the deadlock in Syria.

Bahceli staunchly supported the Iranian government against recent street demonstrations, characterizing them as foreign interventions.

Imperialist plot in Iran

"Events in Iran are imperialist plots and plans," Bahceli stated. "Iran, writhing in pain, threatens Türkiye and regional countries in every aspect. The climate of peace in neighboring Iran is of vital importance for Türkiye."

Drawing a parallel to Türkiye's own history, Bahceli warned against the "invisible part of the iceberg."

"The targets of these focal points are clear," he said. "Attention should be paid to the similarity between the Gezi Park protests and the events in Iran. These events must be opposed... The Iranian people will not serve the mole order of imperialism."

US new 'sick man'

Bahceli directed his harshest rhetoric at U.S. President Donald Trump, criticizing his disregard for international law and recent actions in Venezuela.

"If Trump tramples on the law, he is no different from a criminal organization," Bahceli asserted. "It is an undeniable fact that the US is experiencing doomsday scenarios that drag the world into fire."

Referencing the historical label once applied to the Ottoman Empire, Bahceli flipped the script. "They once slapped the label of 'sick man' on the Ottoman Empire. Now, the real 'sick man' is the USA," he declared, citing Trump's ambitions in Greenland and Venezuela as evidence of "unbridled greed overriding human reason."

SDF puppet of Israel

Addressing the situation in Syria, Bahceli slammed the proposal by the pro-Kurdish DEM Party for Ankara to negotiate directly with the SDF. He argued that the SDF's failure to integrate with the Syrian army was a mistake and that Trump had "sold them out."

"The terrorist named Mazlum Abdi is a supporter of Zionism, a puppet of Israel, and is disrespectful and disloyal to the founding leadership of the PKK," Bahceli said, referring to PKK ringleader Abdullah Ocalan.

He insisted that the SDF's only interlocutor is Damascus. "Asking for the SDF/YPG to be invited to Ankara for negotiations is an eclipse of reason," Bahceli concluded.

"Their interlocutor is the state of the Syrian Republic. Even if the time for the March 10 Memorandum has expired, the integration process, which is also Imrali's call, must be completed."
